Floodproofing, dry

Floodproofing measures designed to prevent floodwater from entering a building by sealing walls and closing openings. Referred to simply as “flood proofing” in floodplain management regulation 44 CFR § 59.1. Structural components must have the ability to resist loads specified in ASCE 7. Under the flood insurance standards, only non-residential buildings are allowed to use dry floodproofing. See floodproofing.
